Jürgen Kilian examines the Bavarian State Statistics Office in the period between 1933 and the late 1960s in relation to the persistence of National Socialist and even earlier influences. Alongside the institution itself, he analyzes personnel policy and the agency's output. In particular, the way that statistics are interpreted reflects prevailing mindsets and norms, and how they evolve over time.
