Mediation is an established method of dispute resolution across a wide range of professional situations, including the legal sector, community care, the commercial sector, counseling, and work in schools and the community. Two other key areas in which mediation techniques are used are the social care and health sectors, where it is increasingly applied to new areas such as child abduction, child protection, housing and medical negligence. This book draws on reflections from leading mediators who offer insights into what good practice involves and how this can be implemented in what are typically complex and difficult situations. The book covers a wide variety of individual styles, practice approaches and models, institutional frameworks and personal ideologies. Developing the Craft of Mediation is an essential aid for any mediator wanting to enhance their understanding of the theory and practice of mediation.
