The French-Czech novelist Milan Kundera was born in the Czech Republic and has lived in France since 1975. He died in Paris in 2023.Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Peter Kussi had a distinguished career in the field of Czech literature as a scholar, editor and translator. He taught Czech language and literature at Columbia for many years and is known for his translation of the works of Milan Kundera, among them the novel Immortality which won the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize.
