WILL BARU BREAK HERSELF TO SHATTER AN EMPIRE?

Baru Cormorant has betrayed everyone she loves to infiltrate the empire she's vowed to destroy. Now she's a secret lord of the Masquerade, entrusted with an expedition to gain the secret of immortality. This could change everything if revealed, and Baru finally sees her chance. She plans to trigger a war that will consume the Empire of Masks.

But Baru's heart is broken. Hunted by a mutinous admiral and haunted by the injury that split her mind in two, she fears she can no longer tell justice from revenge . . . or her own desires from the will of the man who remade her.
